Banking for design studios
Month-end close: 3 hours.
Atlas gives your studio a card for every client, files each charge the moment it settles, and hands your accountant a clean ledger on the 1st. No receipt hunts. No spreadsheet weekend.
No credit check to apply. No per-seat fees. Leave anytime with a full export.
01 · The problem
The last week of the month is a job nobody billed for.
Studios run lean. Then the close arrives, and two senior people spend days doing forensic accounting on their own spending.
The receipt hunt
"Whose $49 charge is this?" gets asked in Slack fourteen times a month. It gets answered about half the time. The other half becomes guesswork on the 30th.
One card, everything on it
A single shared company card turns the statement into 31 lines someone has to decode from memory. Most of them end up categorized as "misc" and stay there.
The spreadsheet close
Copy-paste from three statements, category guessing, FX math by hand. All of it before your accountant even opens the file, and all of it again next month.
02 · How it works
A card per client. A ledger that files itself.
Spend is categorized at the moment of settlement, not reconstructed at month-end. Name a card after a client and every charge on it lands under that client, automatically.
Live in 8 seconds. Frozen in one click. A limit per card, per month.

The 1st is just another day
Books close before lunch. Your accountant gets a clean, categorized export instead of a shoebox and an apology.
Any client question, one filter
Spend per client is a saved view, not an archaeology dig. Filter the card, export the page, bill the hour to nothing.
Zombie spend gets found
Per-card statements surface the subscriptions nobody opens. The median studio finds $412 a month in week one.
04 · On the record
Founders who got their month back.
We closed February in 2 hours 41 minutes. The old record was three days, and that was a good month. Our accountant sent a one-word email: "what."
Meridian asked for their Q3 spend on type licensing. That used to be an afternoon. I filtered one card, exported one page, and moved on with my day.
Week one, Atlas surfaced $431 a month of subscriptions nobody had opened since 2024. The fee paid for itself five times over before our first close.
05 · Pricing
One flat fee. The math is short.
Most spend tools price per seat, then quietly take a percentage on FX. Atlas charges a number you can write down.
Atlas Studio
Every feature. No tiers, no seat math, no percentage of anything.
- Unlimited virtual cards and seats
- 0% FX markup, interbank rate
- Nightly Xero and QuickBooks sync
- Migration done for you, in 2 business days
- Support from a person, 11 min median reply
A worked example
A 9-person studio. $18,400 in monthly card spend, $4,200 of it international.
| Line item | Atlas | Per-seat tool |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee | $79 | $108 nine seats at twelve dollars |
| FX markup on $4,200 | $0 | $63 |
| Cards beyond the included 5 | $0 | $45 |
| Monthly total | $79 | $216 |
A percentage take scales with your growth. A flat fee doesn't. At $40k monthly spend the gap roughly doubles; the Atlas line stays $79.

07 · Questions
Asked before opening an account.
Is Atlas a bank?
No. Atlas is a financial technology company. Deposits sit at Harbor Bank, N.A., Member FDIC, and are insured up to $250,000 per depositor. Cards run on the Visa network.
How fast can we start?
The application takes about 10 minutes and most studios are approved the same day. Your first virtual card works the moment approval clears; there is no credit check to apply.
Does it sync with Xero and QuickBooks?
Yes. Atlas maps categories to your existing chart of accounts and pushes filed transactions nightly. You can also export CSV at any moment, mid-month included.
What does migration ask of us?
About an hour of your time. You connect your current accounts and confirm the category mapping; we import open transactions, recreate your setup, and issue replacement cards within 2 business days, before your old cards are cancelled.
How are international charges handled?
Charges settle at the interbank rate with a 0% markup. The ledger shows the original currency next to the USD amount, so the close needs no FX math from anyone.
What happens if we leave?
Your data leaves with you: full history as CSV, Xero, and QuickBooks exports. There is no termination fee and no notice period. This is also why we keep the product good.
